Development Roadmap
Helerion is growing beyond core survival: persistent social systems, player-driven economy, and deeper combat and progression. This page is the consolidated picture of what is already in motion, what ships today, and what comes next.
Shipped
These roadmap items are done in the current design and implementation.
- Lux (gameplay) — A placeable Lux entity in the world: a mana well with radius-based health and mana regeneration, plus growth when Lux is fed. See also Lux for the world fiction around the Carrier of Light.
- Portrait inventory — Inventory Panel UI can auto-open in portrait so phone play stays usable without extra taps.
- Platforming feel — Variable jump height (jump cut) and coyote time on the player controller for tighter, fairer gaps.
Live in builds (supporting systems)
Other systems from the engineering roadmap are in the project and show up when scenes and assets are wired (see Roadmap features (Unity setup)):
- Mana bar and mana-backed abilities
- Two-stick combo input (preferences asset + component)
- Scroll items that teach abilities into hotbar slots
- Harvestable trees (health, drops, optional stump) — player melee can damage trees when colliders are set up for combat overlap
- Optional PvP — player-vs-player damage gated by rules (off by default)
- Player faction — identity fields on the player for future territory and honor logic
Roadmap
Planned and aspirational systems for a persistent world:
- Dungeon Master Mode — Players set up custom quests at real-world locations for parties to tackle.
- Territory, clans & sovereignty — Form groups to contest landmarks and social hubs (e.g. coffee shops). Includes the faction layer, land control, honor as a social code, and optional PvP when the rules allow it—one thread, not separate roadmap items.
- Building Markets — Trade resources inside friendly territory and turn trusted places into safe-zone trading hubs.
- Skill-based combat — Invent combos from directional input plus action buttons (the full vision; stick-combo plumbing exists today—see setup page).
- Leveling System — Progress every skill for players who want a classic number-go-up loop.
- Crafting System — Recipes and unique items; raise crafting/mining to use better materials.
- Legendary NFTs — One-of-a-kind items as true digital assets.
- World Lore — Uncover the history of the 13 through paper scraps and books scattered through the void.
